Yoga in Nature
Winter Gateway 4 November 10 to 3pm
at Howsham Mill, near Malton, North Yorkshire YO60 7PA
“Sonia leads and creates a wonderful retreat – a magical break from every day life. The wonderful energy of Howsham Mill combined with Sonia’s teaching is a real gift to yourself. Sonia’s masses of experience and knowledge of yoga create classes that are intelligent, nurturing and joyful for your body and mind. You will leave feeling lighter, happier and deeply nourished.” Jen Taylor
One aim in Yoga is for us to realise our true nature, swarupa. This becomes so much easier when we practice out in nature. Away from square boxes of cement and electricity, limiting habits of conditioning fall away more easily. Our yoga flies freely. We aren’t part of nature. We are nature. Open to connecting with Life more deeply. Let Life help you.
We can practice both inside in the beautifully renovated Mill and outside on the little island. Otters, kingfishers, foxes and badgers are local residents.
Enjoy the energy, the peace and the balancing effect Nature has on your mind. Love how Nature can give support in your asana practice and help you release, strengthen, balance and focus. Appreciate how breathing can deepen when inspired by beauty. Days will include dynamic Hatha Yoga and restorative asana practice, kriyas (cleansing practices) and pranayama. Enjoy meditation practices (both seated and walking) to help you thrive.
Learn how to modify your yoga practice for each season and embrace Ayurvedic wisdom to help see you through the ranges of weather we experience through the year. Retreat times vary according to sunrise and sunset. We are wise to honour our connection with the rhythms of Nature and respect the effect this has on our lives.
Each day will give you the opportunity for svadhyaya, self reflection, as you journey through the year. Each retreat will give you the chance to set an intention, a sankalpa for the season ahead.
Perhaps most importantly, you can develop an intimate relationship with the Nature at Howsham Mill and let it help guide you to your innermost self. Here we can open to experiencing our connection with the Great Mystery.
